Rhodes Faliraki

Faliraki is like a huge amusement park, with a huge multi-ethnic crowd tirelessly seeking pleasure, day and night: in the morning on the famous beach with its striped umbrellas, in the evening on the narrow streets with their flashy neon lights. and its great noise. Water battles until you drop in the impressive water park, races on the go-cart track, gallons of beer in the little bars on Ermou St., queues in front of the big clubs on the main boulevard.

One of the liveliest seaside resorts on the island, Faliraki has two different sides: on the one hand, the large luxury hotels with their private beaches and wide range of facilities, on the other, the noisy city center with its jewelry stores, Irish pubs, ethnic restaurants (Italian, Indian, Chinese, Mexican) and constant movement. Ermou Street, which runs down to the sea from the main road, is where most of the bars are located, as well as clothing boutiques for the youngest, jewelers and fast food outlets. At the end of the street is the famous Chaplin’s, the best known of all the beach bars on the island and one of the few places where you can see some Greek faces. Generally speaking, the area is overrun by British! In the surroundings of the town there are facilities for all kinds of activities (karting, amusement park, mini soccer, etc.) as well as all kinds of nightclubs, including a live striptease show.

At the end of Ermou street, opposite Chaplin’s, is the taxi rank and the first aid center. The miniature train for the tour of the city also leaves from here. If you’re sick of the crowds, the closest escape is Profitis Amos, on the way to Rhodes town, outside of Faliraki. There, in a pleasant clearing in the woods, with peacocks strutting about, you’ll find a quiet tavern where you can eat good food and enjoy the view of Faliraki brightly lit in the distance.
