Invocations, chants and prayers of Wicca

An invocation is the call of a god or a goddess. Wiccan witches work with gods and goddesses for their universal energies to provide balance in magical rituals. Balance is important with the masculine and feminine, yin and yang, two sources of energy to provide harmony and the correct direction of channeled energy. Invocations can be as simple or complex as you like. The gods and goddesses can be invoked with herbs, numbers, colors and even images, and at certain times of the year corresponding to the lunar or solar cycle.

Invocation of the elements

Air, Fire, Water, Earth, Elements of astral birth, I call you now, attend me.

In the correctly thrown circle, Safe from the psychic curse or the blast, I call you now, attend me.

Of cave and desert, sea and hill, With wand, sword, cup and pentacle, I call you now, attend me.

This is my will, so be it!

These prayers below can be used to invoke the Goddess and God during the post-circle casting ritual. You can change the words as you see fit. These are related to a specific deity, but “All Gods are one God; and all Goddesses are one Goddess, and there is an initiator.” You can also use chants to increase energy levels.

Invocation to the Goddess

Crescent One of the starry skies, Flowered from the fertile plain,

Flowing One of the ocean sighs, Blessed of the gentle rain.

Hear my song among the standing stones, Open me to your mystical light.

Wake me up to your silver tones Join me in my sacred rite!

Summon Pan

Oh great god Pan, Beast and man Shepherd of goats and lord of the land,

I call you to attend my rites, On this most magical night.

God of wine God of the vine, God of the fields and God of cows,

Wait my circle with your love And send your blessings from above.

Help me heal Help me feel Help me to produce love and well-being.

Invocation of Isis

Isis of the Moon, You who are everything you ever were

All that is, And all that will be.

Come veiled Queen of the Night, Come as the fragrance of the sacred lotus,

Loading my circle With love and magic.

Descend upon my circle, I pray, Oh blessed Isis!

Prayer to the Horned God

With horns of the desert, Winged one of the shining skies,

One of the splendid rays of the sun, Dropped one of Samhain’s screams.

I call between the standing stones, Praying that you, oh old man,

He will propose to bless my mystical rites, O fiery Lord of the Burning Sun!
