Choosing a good apartment hotel in Barbados

For those going on holiday to Barbados, especially those going with family or a group of friends, an apartment hotel is more than likely to be the first choice of accommodation. Looking at this author’s experience in the Caribbean, for example, there were some apartment hotels in Barbados that were good, while others were poor. These are some of the tricks I learned to know which was which in Barbados. But, of course, they are not all the same. It all depends on what kind of vacation the tourist decides.

For adventurous backpackers

In Barbados, the southern part is the best place to get acquainted with the local scene, as this place is full of affordable accommodation that is not fancy and does not have large beachfronts. South of Barbados is also Oistins, so this is where the real Bajan beach party is. Adventurous types are the easiest to please. Most of these backpackers are on a budget or just looking to get the most authentic travel experience they can get. And for them, authentic means something that is not in the usual tour packages. These people tend to dislike any place that feels too “touristy”. That means going to swanky hotel resorts isn’t a real option. For the adventurous type, it would be best to look for accommodations that are close to the city. In the southern area, one can find Worthing, St. Lawrence Gap, Hastings, and Silver Sands at Christ Church. It is also where the famous Crane Beach is located. This is why the South Coast is definitely a lot busier and a bit more fun. In addition to these sites, all the nightclubs, restaurants and bars are also mostly located in the south. Getting an apartment near the south is important as drunks will find it easier to get home.

For the healthy and the deprived

Some families want a safe and healthy trip for their children. Some newlyweds prefer to lounge together on romantic yet private getaways. It is not that difficult to get cheap accommodation in the southern part of Barbados. However, many of the apartments are just concrete buildings without much style. In the northern part of the island there are many hotels and more or less secluded beaches. However, this is also where the fanciest and therefore most expensive accommodations would be found. The best thing for those who want privacy and relaxation but also want to save some money is to get accommodation in the north of Barbados, but not in a hotel that has a beach front. There are several charming apartments in Barbados that are located within a ten to five minute walk from the beach. These could be the best option for those who want privacy. But there are also beachside accommodations in the north that may be a little over budget, but will be worth it.
