Motocross is a lifestyle

The older we get, the more we realize that it’s the little things in life that mean the most to us. There is something that has been in my life since I was 4 years old and it was a huge expense for my parents, but it has also meant the world to me. Motocross is one of the most important parts of my life and it is still something I will continue to do until I possibly can’t and one day pass it on to my children. But now that I am older and have taken charge of the financial side of the sport, I realize how expensive everything is for such a sport.

There will always be a “down side” to anything we do in life. With motocross, it seems like a very steep mountain of money to climb. For starters, there’s the bikes you ride, the protective gear, and bike parts that will cost anywhere from $5,000 when you’re a little kid to $15,000 when you have the bigger bikes. Along with those costs, you’ll also pay for gas to travel to the races, fees to enter the races, and hotel or camper fees if you have a camper. How is the bad side of a sport that is the economic side of motocross. These costs add up over the years of getting new bikes, equipment, and parts. These could financially affect you and your family.

Although motocross has a major downside, I must say that the great part of motocross is the big and small parts it will give you in life. Like I said before, I have raced and ridden dirt bikes since I was 4 years old. This sport has been a big part of my life and will be for the rest of it. Motocross is the part of me that will always bring out the adrenaline junkie and little kid trying to fly and be what he imagines superstars to be. Motocross has given me the feeling of flying and the crushing feeling of being driven into the dirt at speed. These good and bad feelings are something I would never trade for anything. There’s nothing more liberating than riding a bike, whether it’s on a track, trails or just in the middle of an open field and being able to go where you want or as fast as you want. The feeling you get when you fly 50 feet off the ground and for a distance of 150 feet is like no other. It’s almost like I have motocross running through my veins and I only feel so good and clear when I’m on my dirt bike. After riding for so long, you feel like the bike is an extension of you. There are always the great feelings of winning races or championships, but these feelings that come over you when you drive are the most important to me.

Another rewarding aspect of sport is watching young children grow up to love sport as much as I did as a child. It’s always nice to be able to help the younger generation improve by giving them advice or helping them overcome their fears. Motocross has a special way of connecting all your family and friends. Not only does your family become more united, but with this sport you can get closer to everyone in the motocross community as you travel, ride and compete with them. Motocross is something that takes everything out of you and lets you grow as a person and that to me is worth every penny.
