The Best Books for Young Children: The Ultimate Book Guide for Your Kids

There is no greater joy than reading a great story to your young child. After talking to parents of young children, sitting in the library looking at what parents are reading to their young children, and researching the best books for young children, I’ve compiled a list of books that represent the best stories you should read to everyone. your lovely little ones. girls and boys. I hope young children (and parents) enjoy them.

Goodnight Gorilla by Peggy Rathman

A funny story about a zookeeper who puts the zoo animals to bed. However, as he goes around wishing everyone a good night, a mischievous bouncer takes the keys from him and starts causing some trouble. Good Night Gorilla is quite a fun book that will keep both young children and parents entertained. It has 34 pages of beautiful and vivid images. Absolute must read for any cheeky monkey.

A girl has a younger brother with whom she doesn’t want to share. As she goes through the day and her mom tells her more and more, she learns the importance of sharing and begins to enjoy it. A beautiful way to promote sharing between brothers and sisters and transform it into something they want to do. The ending in particular is charming and very sincere. Recommended reading for young children with younger siblings.

Pet Babies! by amazing baby

This touch and feel book introduces young children to different baby animals while allowing them to feel the different textures of their hair. There is also a rhyme for each animal that describes the feel of their skin/fur. Very entertaining and successful with your little ones.

Anna Walker is one of the best young children’s authors and this book is a great example of that. Human beings are able to show how they feel through their facial expressions and Funny Face is great for encouraging children and indeed yourself to make different faces to each other to show emotions and expressions. Each page shows a different emotion and will have your toddler giggling and experimenting to try out different facial expressions, from happy to sad, scared to impressed. Great fun for both toddlers and parents.

Dear Zoo Noisy Book by Rod Campbell

30 years after the first publication of this book, it is still one of the most recommended books by parents and could not be missing from this list of the best books for young children. A little boy wants to get a pet so he writes to the zoo asking them to send one, they do but there is something wrong with each one until they send the perfect pet. This interactive book allows your child to lift the flaps, look behind the boxes, and even press a button that creates the animal noise. Another book that will provide much entertainment to both the reader and the child.

Ladybird Twinkle Lullaby Book

A book of familiar nursery rhymes that has shapes and pictures around it and asks your child if he can see the small pictures inside the larger ones. It also has fun images related to the lullaby in particular and has different materials and textures to feel.

Ten Tiny Babies by Karen Katz

A story of babies who play and have a lot of fun jumping and being silly until it’s time to go to bed. Follow the babies one by one as they gather together until all ten are ready to say goodnight.

Usborne’s early issues

This first number book teaches your child to count to five and then count again. He used animated images to do so and features animals that you may not have encountered yet. The book is well made and should last a long time which is great as children love to look at the cute and engaging pictures.

Opposites of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler

Using the very popular characters from The Gruffalo stories, this book shows and teaches children about opposites. Differences are shown across many animals of all shapes and sizes through their speed, size, expression, and height. A brilliant way to introduce your child to The Gruffalo books and how we are all unique. Highly recommended to teach your little ones very important things in the world.

Waiting For Baby is a great way to build excitement around the anticipation of a new arrival in the family. Follow a little boy as he and his family prepare for the new baby. This encourages questions and helps your child feel involved in everything related to the new addition to the family, such as ultrasounds, feeling the baby’s kicks, helping choose clothes, decorating the nursery, keeping appointments medical check-ups and finally waiting for mom, dad and baby to come back from the hospital.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

A timeless story that follows the progression of a caterpillar from an egg to a leaf. He wakes up and immediately starts foraging for food eating everything in sight until his tummy hurts because he was so greedy. He begins to feel better and then forms a cocoon and transforms into a magnificent butterfly. A great way to show your child where butterflies originally come from.

It’s Ant Parker’s bath time

It’s Bathtime by Any Parker is a very entertaining book that helps your child get ready for the bath by letting her gather all the things she needs, like the towel, bubble bath and toys. Great way to bring a little fun to an important part of your child’s routine.

Emma Dodd’s Best Bear

Best Bear is a beautiful story of a boy and his favorite bear at bedtime told through a charming rhyme. This is a relaxing nighttime story about how his best friend ‘Bear’ protects him from the dark and helps him be brave before he goes to sleep. This is a perfect way to alleviate the fear of the dark that some children may have.

Moo, baa, la la la! by Sandra Boyton

Truly entertaining, this poetry book allows you and your child to copy the animal noises while following the story that is completely fun for children. Moo, Baa, La La La teaches your child to associate certain noises with specific animals.

Where is Spot? by Eric Hill

No list of the best books for young children would be complete without one that features the lovable puppy Spot. This flip-up book follows Spots Mummy Sally searching for him but encountering many other animals before he finds her cub. Lots of fun can be had discovering the animal hidden behind the objects in the Spots house, a fun way to make her child guess who Sally will find next!

Some will give you and your toddler great moments of laughter and others will provide a great teaching tool.
