Fake tattoos: are they for imposters?

In the past, fake tattoos were only for children. However, that never stopped adults from using them back then. Unfortunately, they did so at the risk of being called “imposters.” If you’ve used a custom-designed temporary tattoo in the past, it sent the message that you didn’t have the guts and pain tolerance to get a real one. This is the reason why many people did not use serious or personalized temporary tattoos in the past, even if they really wanted to.

Actually, it is a common misconception that fake tattoos are only for kids. But there are many valid reasons why people prefer the temporary to the permanent. Fashion is a good reason and this is why many women wore them back then. This is quite evident in the temporary tattoo designs available. You can easily find patterns of roses, butterflies and the like.

The men had a hard time. Men were called posers for wearing them. An imposter is defined as a person who always pretends to be someone else. Tattoos were seen as skin art for tough guys. This is the reason why it is very popular in prisons. It is true that there are many men who used them to look tough. But how can anyone achieve that with rose and butterfly designs? The limited selection of fake tattoo designs never helped the cause of fake tattoos.

Fortunately, some manufacturers saw this problem and felt they had to do something about it. First, they realized that they had great potential. However, this potential is being curbed in its tracks with the notion that they are for scams or cowards. Many men and women are afraid to use them because they did not want to be labeled as imposters. It’s hard to blame them. But things are changing now, as some manufacturers are doing things to eliminate the misconception.

The most important thing to know is that they are not for imposters. In fact, they are widely used today for different causes and we have these visionary companies to thank for that. What they did was pretty straightforward. They acquired the equipment and skills necessary to produce great results with the help of great temporary tattoo designs. The resulting tattoos are so cool that they are no longer just for skin art.

It is not difficult to see a stadium filled with 10,000 fans with fake tattoos. Now, are they imposters? No, because they are using them to show support for their team. Many schools and teams create designs that show the colors, names, and mascots of their respective teams. They sell them in venues or even give them away to raise team spirit. No one is going to call you a poser for wearing one to these events. In fact, they will see you as a good supporter of the team. In the end, it is the team that will benefit greatly, as they are supported by fans in high spirits, possibly benefiting from the funds raised from the sale of the temporary skin art.

But you may even find people who want unique, custom designs that lend themselves to self-expression. They may not be looking to support a team, a cause or a company, but they may have a message or an image that they want to show off in the world. They may not want this image to be permanent. It can be for an occasion like a wedding or a memorial service. It may be something you want to try before getting a permanent skin tattoo. It may be that their style is constantly changing and they do not want to be tied to the display of a permanent tattoo. Their job may not allow for visible tattoos, but they still want that facial tattoo for the weekends … The reasons for wearing temporary tattoos are many and can be very personal.

Sure, there will be some folks who won’t be convinced that temporary sports tattoos are a valid form of self-expression. The motto “No guts, no glory” sometimes runs very deep. But deep down, you know you’re just supporting your team, your local charity, your best friend’s marriage, or your mood for the week, and those around you will understand. That is the important thing.
